The Christmas house tour is next Sunday, December 11. If you're in St. Louis then stop by I assure you that you won't be disappointed. I rented for a while in Dogtown and South Hampton while finishing SLU in the early 90s at the height of the crack wars in the then 10th (now 20th ish) Ward.

In 1998 I left for Chicago as a volunteer and wasn't sure what next. Well. after 13 years in Chicago, I am very excited to move back to my home town. The renewal of STL city life has been incredible. I grew up in the State Streets at the Indian Streets and have lived in rough hoods in Chicago too, and that doesn't bother me. What makes the difference is the critical mass of determined city dwellers. I feel that in STL for the first time since the mid-80s! I may become quickly disillusioned, but I can't wait to give da Lou the good ole' Hoosier try, again.Brian Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03902415314831468509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2871243653185206870.post-30641601501614540982011-07-07T15:38:33.721-04:002011-07-07T15:38:33.721-04:00Kranz Truck Equipment - 1863 - 300 Russell Blvd.

The Conference room is expanding also, and will now accommodate 20 people easily, moving to the other side of the Urban Arts Collective.

So, no art events in April, while we are under construction.

Happy to report: so many other businesses looking to locate in our biz district! From art supply shops and tattoo parlors to photo studios and furniture refinishers. Two new resale shops opening as I write, in addition to The Collective, a shared work space at 3309 Meramec. One of our resale shops is doubling in size this month.

DT2 is also getting ready to publish our 2nd book on the neighborhood- Downtown Dutchtown: Changing Faces & Places.

Its a snapshot of our changing neighborhood, with an intro by historian NiNi Harris, about the past and present inhabitants. The book is based on a photo exhibit project with DT@, UMSL's Public Policy Research Center and Urban Eats Cafe.

All excellent signs of progress.Redheadzazzgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01741945358985354378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2871243653185206870.post-12781548005306852412011-01-12T22:35:28.303-05:002011-01-12T22:35:28.303-05:00The building in the picture is still being used. This is just the strangest thing but Greg and I just bought the house to the right of the safe house. We closed last Friday and we start renovations next week. The safe is gone now, but we are working on a commuity garden, speak-easy and gallary for the area.
